Yesterday I ran to the grocery store for dinners for the week. My original plan was to make knockoff McChickens but then I started staring at the burgers I bought. And then I remembered all the blocks of cheese in my refrigerator (Cory likes to snack on cheese so we buy a lot) and cheese stuffed burgers came to mind. So I sliced some cheese and took two burger patties, put the cheese on one, put the second burger on top and sealed it shut. In a pan I put a little bit of salt and hamburger seasoning and on medium heat started cooking the burgers. Now, a lot of people use oil when cooking burgers, but I don’t. I like to just use salt and let the fat from the burgers be the “oil” and let them cook in their own juices. I also like to flip my burgers frequently and I DO NOT press down on them as the cook. When you press down on them not only are you checking for blood, but you’re also pushing the natural juices out and that leads to dry burgers. I tend to trust my gut on the doneness…sometimes I’m wrong. When the burgers were done I put a slice of cheese on the top, let it melt a bit and then put them on a Kaiser roll. I prefer Kaiser rolls over a regular hamburger roll just because they’re a heavier roll, and the juices from the burger and toppings can’t soak through and ruin the bun as fast. Pop your favorite toppings on that burger and enjoy your fat boy burger!
